The present article diagnoses the condition selected elements of Polish geography now find themselves in. The author’s focus is on the “research condition” of the scientific discipline, notably the disintegration of geography, the polarization of geographical institutions and the developmental level of its scientific human resources. The conclusion to be drawn is that the last few decades have failed to bring about any essential change that would tend to strengthen the position of Polish geography in the system of sciences. – (BJ)
