Description :
The Saint Georgios coastal zone, located at the W coast of Naxos, was investigated in order to determine the palaeo-geography, sea level changes and their effect to the palaeo-environment of western Naxos island and to human activity. Detailed geomorphological mapping, study of micropaleontological and sedimentological characteristics and dating analyses of the Late Holocene were conducted. The results provided evidence for sea-land interactions during the last 6000 years and the man interaction with the coastal zone. There is a correlation between these results and the curve predicted by the glacio-hydro-isostatic model.
