Sticky places in the globalized economy : the role of localities in attracting the software industrie
Auteur :MICEK, G.
Description :
The emergence of the software industry in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and the uneven spatial distribution of the software industry in Poland needs an in-deepth explanation. Five main factors have been identified behind the emergence of foreign software companies in CEE : cost-related reasons, accessibility to highly skilled graduates, the return migration of ex-pats, the cultural milieu of some cities and proximity to customers. Due to the bounded rationality of the founders, the main factor behind localized growth in Poland is the relation of the founders with their previous place of ressidence, study and work. - (BJ)
