Auteur :BONTJE, M.
Description :
From the 1960s to the late 1980s, residences and jobs have increasingly grown appart spatially in the Netherlands. In the 1990s, this trend was partly reversed with the emergence of city-edge and (post-) suburban office complexes. Still, commuter traffic accross municipal boundaries kept growing. Dutch commuting pattern and especially those in the urban region of the largest cities have become increasingly complex. The focus lies on recent developments in the Amsterdam urban region. Special attention will be paid to the two dynamic parts of this region : the municipalities of Haarlemmermeer and Almere, which have recently changed fom monofunctional residential to multifunctional post-suburban environments. - (IfL)
