Description :
This technical communication is divided into 4 main sections. First, the collection and processing of airborne LiDAR data undertaken by the Environment Agency are outlined and the accuracy of the data sets currently available is discussed. Second, the choice of data on which to base geomorphological mapping, the processing necessary prior to mapping and the recognition and definition of geomorphological features are described. Third, the effects of using different classification intervals are evaluated. Finally, the quality of the results is assessed by comparison with those obtained from field mapping.
