Differential rock weathering in the Valley of the Boulders, Kärkevagge, Swedish Lapland

Description :
The aim of this research was to determine if observed differences in weathering of competent and decaying rocks are related to measurements of selected intrinsic properties including chemical composition and mineralogy. The results highlight the importance of chemical processes, particularly pyrite oxidation, in a climate where the cold temperatures would render it unimportant by conventional geomorphic standards.
