Description :
The Joseph II military land survey (Josephine military map) from the second half of the 18th century is an important historical source. Presented are the survey possibilities as a geographical source in the article. The Joseph II military land survey in relatively large scale (1:28.800) show all important geographical features in the landscape : relief, vegetation, hydrology, settlements with their morphological structure, roads, boarders and geographical names. Descriptions along maps also contain data on configuration of relief, crossings through forests and river flow regimes. Due to all provided data the Joseph II military land survey is suitable for studying : geomorphic and hydrological processes, changes in cultural landscape, morphological and structural changes of settlements, development of road network, geographical names and development of borders. - (IKR)
