The author analyses the dependence of the present-day vegetation on landforms in alpine landscapes. As a result of field campaigns, supported by satellite- and aerial photograph-based classification procedures as well as GIS-methodology two vegetation maps were drawn up. The spatial distribution of different vegetation alliances were simulated using two model approaches. With regard to a potential climate and therefore habitat change, the study aims contributing to the research fields of vegetation and high mountain ecology. - (IFL)
