Equotip hardness for weathered surface layer of tuffaceous sandstone at Yagura artificial caves in Kamakura City

Aoki and Matsukara (2004) have indicated that the Equotip Hardness Tester may be more suitable than the Schmidt hammer for finding the strength of a weathered layer. The AA. apply it to man-made caves known as Yagura which have been severely damaged by salt weathering. This paper reports preliminary results of the investigation.
