Regional characteristics of marinas in the Tokyo Metropolitan Area

The A. attempted to analyze the distribution of marinas by the number and the types of boats as well as the composition of the facilities. On the basis of the analysis, the study area could be divided into 3 regions : areas facing the Pacific Ocean with large storage capacity, dominance of sailboats, and incident facilities; marinas in the inner bay region, around Tokyo Bay, with small storage capacity, and simple facilities; the lake region, an area specializing in black bass fishing, with very small storage capacity, and very simple facilities.
