These three ideas are essentials of any geographical education. The world view of geographers is part of a system of knowledge, experiences and imaginations. Objects of geographical earth and world descriptions are localities (topography), areal and regional phenomena (chorography), and also continental or global relations (geography). Most important categories of geography are location, scale and systems, i.e. the metabolism of men and nature in history. The idea of spatial patterns and global interactions is essential for aiming a geographical world view. There are parallels between mental maps of children and world maps of ancient cartographers. - (IFL)
