This paper examines the development and the future potentials of tourism in Tiszazug region, which is situated in the heart of the Great Hungarian Plain, north of the confluence of the Tisza and Körös rivers. The region is considered to be backwarded, a so-called inner-periphery within the country. Based on empirical studies activities of those involved in service activities as well as behaviour of visitors are analysed, and alternatives for tourism policy of local governments of the region are outlined. - (JS)
