The reintroduction of a klong term in government policy is seen as an indispensable precondition for all considerations and suggestions for the renewal of spatial planning by DATAR, the French Delegation for Spatial Planning and Regional Policy. In this connection it has prepared the document Spatial Planning in France in the Year 2020. This study includes four scenarios for France in the Europe of the year 2020 and is intended to serve as an aid to develop futurological considerations. The article concludes with the presentation of the current model of French spatial planning. - (IFL)
