In March 2003, the German Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning (BBR)initiated a project to develop suggestions for a national integrated coastal zone management (ICZM) strategy from the special perspective of spatial planning. This paper presents first theses for a national ICZM strategy and sets out some possible consequence for spatial planning. - (IFL)
