Description :
This paper presents new Sea Surface Temperature (SST) estimates from the east-equatorial South Atlantic Ocean and compares them with existing data for this area and the nearby African continent. Ocean Drilling Program (ODP) core 1077A-1H was examined with alkenone analysis to obtain high-resolution SST records for the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM), Termination I, and the Holocene. Oxygene isotope analysis of multiple species of planktonic foraminifera was performed for hydrographic reconstruction. The record shows shows 2 distinct warming-cooling cycles during the late Holocene.
