The AA. report the geomorphic effects of a rock avalanche that fell into Laguna Safuna Alta, Cordillera Blanca, Peru, in April 2002. They investigate the nature of the avalanche, the effects of the avalanche on the Laguna Safuna Alta and its immediate environment and the consequence of those effects for the stability of the surviving moraine rampart.
