Fluvial sediment budget of a Mediterranean river : the lower Tordera (Catalan Coastal Ranges, NE Spain)

Description :
The aim of this study is to estimate the sediment budget of a Mediterranean river, the lower part of the Tordera basin (Catalan Coastal Ranges, NE Spain). The research was carried out between 1997 and 1999. The budget is based on measurements of sediment transport at the entrance and the outlet of the study reach, sampling of grain size distribution, and surveys of selected channel cross-sections. Particular attention was paid to the estimation of the mean residence time of riverbed materials stored in the river channel.
