Description :
The primary objective of this study is to determine the channel pattern and formation of the Jingjiang channels, in terms of geomorphologic and hydraulic characteristics, channel geometry, stability, and evolution history, and show that they are similar to other anastomosing river depositional systems. Secondly, the results will serve as a baseline indicator for monitoring and evaluating the fluvial environmental change that will occur due to the impoundment and flow regulation of the 3-Gorges Dam, to be completed in 2009.
