The unusual channel resistance of the Texas Hill Country and its effect on flood flow predictions

Description :
This paper details how an important flood property, the hydraulic resistance, varies around the uplifted limestone area of south-central Texas known as the Texas Hill Country, and how this variation could translate to inaccuracy in floodplain delineations. The AA. present a new method to extract spatial maps of hydraulic roughness using channel geometry and newly accessible USGS National Water Information System (NWIS) data. They use these data to construct maps of hydraulic roughness at different discharges and to test roughness prediction methods suggested by previous AA.
