Erosion par ravinement enregistrée par datation de l'affleurement des racines d'arbres - exemple du Plateau de Proboszczowicka (Haute Silésie, S. Pologne)

Description :
During downpours, material from the loess cover of Proboszczowicka Plateau is eroded. Since the slopes and bottoms of the valley are forested roots of trees are exposed in erosion cuttings. Following, exposure, anatomical changes and traces of wounds appear in roots. This allows for the dating of root exposure, and thereby of the time at which erosion episodes occur. The results show that the gully network changes very quickly in the face of erosion episodes occuring a few times per decade. - (BJ)
