The paper discusses tendencies that occured in the budget management of the rural communes of Wielkopolska voivodeship over the years 1999-2002. The level and structure of their income and expenditures differ significantly from commune to commune, which results largely from disproportions in their socio-economic development location, and functions performed. Attention is also drawn to differences in budget management between rural communes on the one hand and urban and urban-rural on the other. - (BJ)
