Geodiversity evaluation with the aid of landscape indices - basic methodological obstructions
Auteurs :KOT, R.

Description :
Some aspects of the theoretical foundations to geodiversity evaluation. The undesirable behavior of typical landscape indices is illustrated in a series of examples. This gives rise to a question as to how to measure diversity in a quantitative way, so that the result would be reliable, and especially consistent with the insightful geographic analysis made in each concrete case. A unique satisfactory index can not be proposed. Rather consideration has to be given to a set of appropriate indicators, or else investigations should be confined to relationships between the values of indices. - (BJ)
