The characteristics of general geographical conditions and soils in the habitats and breeding grounds of the European Pond Turtle (Emys orbicularis) in Poleski National Park

The two main questions answered concerned the characteristics of the soils in the habitats and breeding grounds of the European Pond Turtle in Poland's Poleski National Park and whether or not it is possible to create a general model for the habitats and breeding grunds of the species. The study was conducted on selected peaty and sansy materials, the European Pond Turtle being shown to choose soils of its habitats and breeding grounds with care. A model for habitants and breeding grounds is presented and the research also shows that a few special conditions are mainly responsible for the successful breeding of the European Pond Turtle in Polesie.- (BJ)
