Vegetation change in the coastal-lowland rainforest at Avai'o'vuna swamp, Vava'u, Kingdom of Tonga

Description :
This research tests the following hypotheses : the Polynesian settlement of Tonga is reflected in the sediment record, particularly through the appearance of microscopic charcoal in wetlands; the coastal swamp of Avai'o'vuna can provide information on Holocene sea level variations; and human impacts on the vegetation will be apparent in the Avai'o'vuna pollen record.
