The article starts from the discrepancy between environmental awareness and environmental behaviour. The cause of this gap lies, for the greatest part, in evolutionary motives of human behavior. Two strategies for environmental education are suggested : on the one hand the environmentally compatible Instrumentalisierung of the genetic proneness to action of human beings, on the other hand the education to an environmentally oriented reflected and ontrolled contact with the proneness to action. - (HPB)
