The aims of this study are to illustrate the importance of ancient mass movements in the geomorphology of the Ethiopian Highlands, to assess their age of origin, to unravel the environmental conditions triggering the original movement, and to understand the environmental significance of the present-day remobilisation of ancient debris flows, as well as that of first-time slides.
