Hydrodynamics and sediment flux of Hoa in an Indian Ocean atoll

This study examines the hydrodynamic processes and sediment transport in 11 hoa (shallow cross-reef channels) in the Cocos (Keeling) Islands, Indian Ocean. Emphasis is on the characteristics of tide and wave-induced current processes and sediment fluxes, rather than on hoa origin and evolution, though the results are used to evaluate morphological development of hoa in the context of Chevalier's evolutionary sequence.
