Description :
The aims of this study are to confirm local permafrost occurrence at an avalanche-affected slope base using the direct methods of drilling and borehole temperature measurements and to understand impacts of different environmental factors, particularly the redistribution of snow by avalanches and wind on soil temperature and the development of permafrost. The results of the study are based on a comparative approach of surveys within and outside the permafrost body at Flüela Pass. A theoretical approach was chosen to analyse the permafrost governing factors and to better understand their internal relationships.
