Railway lines constructed in the second half of the 19th century played an important role in the transport system and the economic development of the southern part of Great Hungarian Plain. These railway lines were seriously affected by border changes after World War I, many of them were closed or only partially used. Author investigates the possibility of the renewal of these lines, and the reestablishment of international transport links, with special attention to the Szeged-Timisoara railway. - (JS)
