The analysis of election results shows that especially strong differences in electoral behaviours occur in the rural areas. The picture refers to socio-economic processes, strongly diversified regionally. historical conditions must play an important role. The nature of socio-economic processes in the rural areas of contemporary Poland depends largely on their starting point, that is, their state membership of particular regions of contemporary Poland consitions, to a certain degree comply with the former state boundaries. This brings us a picture of a complicated system of conditions shaping the life of communities inhabiting the rural areas of Poland. - (BJ)
