Description :
The article considers the indicative value of soils in the study of the natural environment, pointing to the possible use of direct and indirect pedological indicators in assessing changes in a natural system, be these influenced by external natural or anthropogenic factors. It is stressed that an indicative value for a soil is most often used in diagnostic the state of the natural environment, in the palaeogeographie reconstruction there of, in determining a habitat's resistance to anthropogenic factors or the degree to which it has already been transformed and in analysing geographical space in functional and structural terms. - (BJ)
