Renaturyzacja dna doliny dolnej Wisły metodami hydrotechnicznymi

Renaturalisation de la vallée inférieure de la Vistule par des aménagements hydrauliques

Auteur :
BABIŃSKI, Z.

Description :
The article presents changes in the natural environment of the bottom of the lower Vistula valley, as resulting from its hydrotechnical development. An assessment has been made of the degree of degradation of the floodplain zone behind the embankment, this resulting first and foremost from a process of downcutting erosion within the channel, and later from a lowering of the water table and management of the area. A steadily increasing threat of the Włcławek Reservoir dam being breached by the intensive erosion is indicated, and a proposal made regarding the introduction of such a hydrotechnical development - modelled on the cascade already in operation on the Austrian section of the Danube - as will prevent the undermining of the drop. Thanks to cascade construction of the valley floor within the floodbanks, as well as appropriate hydrotechnical measures beyond those banks, it should be possible to achieve renaturalisation of the degraded flood level. - (BJ)
