Auteurs :

Description :
This paper presents a review of 4 infectious diseases found in the southwestern USA that are impacted by climate conditions. Hantavirus and plague are spread by rodents, dengue is transmitted through the bite of the Aedes mosquito and coccidioidomycosis is caused by a soil dwelling fungus. For each disease, an introductory section briefly outlines the importance of the illness within the Southwest, and a review of climate impacts on the disease follows. Finally, future research needs, to more clearly understand the relationship between climate and incidence, are described.
