Research presented in this paper involved measuring, describing and analysing wind flow patterns at a single blowout near Mabibi within the Holocene dune fields of the Maputaland coast in KwaZulu-Natal. The paper concluded that such blowouts are characteristically formed under highly negative beach budgets, and is more likely in the proximity of rocky headlands. - (AJC)
