The Mexican community in Scottsdale, Arizona
Auteur :HARNER, J.
Description :
Scottsdale, an upscale, tourist community, has relied on Mexican labor since its inception. The original Mexican barrio, which dates to the 1910s and included Yaqui Indians, was dispersed through urban renewal in the 1970s. By the 1990s there were 4 Latino communities and the US Census Bureau (1995) estimated that 5.8% of the population in the city was Hispanic. A. discusses reasons for the Mexican concentration in 4 enclaves. - (SLD)
