Coffee in Nicaragua : introduction and expansion in the nineteenth century
Auteur :REVELS, C.S.
Description :
Study places Nicaragua in the context of the coffee boom in Central America during the nineteenth century. Transportation and government involvement were the two most important factors affecting the introduction, growth, and expansion of coffee farming in Nicaragua. Southern Uplands, where coffee production started in Nicaragua in 1840s, and the North-Central Highlands, where production became widespread by the 1870s, are discussed in detail. - (SLD)
