The effects of timber haulage improvements on mahogany extraction in Belize : an historical geography
Auteur :CAMILLE, M.
Description :
The economy of Belize, which occurs at very low densities in the rainforest, was based on the extraction of mahogany from the late 1700s to the mid-1900s. During this times, exploitation moved into the interior, particularly immediately after the introduction of cattle in the early 1800s, tractors in the 1920s, and trucks in the 1940s. The haulage methods are discussed in detail. - (SLD)
