The Black Hills : sketches of a Western Landscape

Auteur :
MITCHELL, M.D.

Description :
A. considers water deficiency to be the defining characteristic of the American West, and he thinks it starts with the Great Plains immediately to the west of the Missouri river in South Dakota. The Black Hill's physiography, biogeography, settlement and gold mining days, and tourism and recreation are covered. He concludes that the Black Hills is increasingly finding an economic identity associated with the New West (tourism, recreation, and retirees). - (SLD)
