The workshop is part of an ambitious project named The compact encyclopedia of cultural history of Southeast Asia. The following classics are regarded as the most cherished cultural heritage of the two countries. Six papers presented by Myanmar scholars on : Bagan (Pagan) ; Mrauk-U (ancient capital of the Kingdom of Arakan) ; the Rajakumar Inscription ; Shewedagon Pagoda ; the Mingun Bell and the Mahamuni (Buddha image of Mandalay). Four papers presented by Thai scholars : the alphabets of King Ramkhamhaeng's inscription (first text in written Thai language, 1283) ; Sukothai : world heritage ; the Grand Palace and the Emerald Buddha of Bangkok. - (GL)
