Weathering rind characteristics of blocky deposits in a deglaciated cirque on Mt. Yakushi, the Northern Japanese Alps

Weathering-rind thickness (WRT) has been used as an indicator of relative ages of glacial and periglacial deposits in high mountain areas. This paper discusses the relationship between the visual determination of WRT and chemical weathering processes, based on the field measurement and chemical analysis of rinds developed on blocky deposits in a deglaciated cirque on Mt. Yakushi.
