Description :
Human impacts on soil erosion and landscape evolution during the late Holocene were quantified in a small catchment, Wolfsgraben, near the city of Bamberg in northern Bavaria. The cultivation of vines and hops as well as intensive use of forest products and pasture led to 2 major periods of gully erosion. Almost 5 m of colluvial sediments cover the Triassic sandstone today. These sediments were eroded from the slopes, and accumulated along the valley. The land use led to soil erosion that was triggered by rainfall events.
