A Baskpackers is a particular kind of travellers who chooses not to avail himself of the nowadays perhaps all too popular formula based on organized travels. In fact, he prefers to freely move around the world with a guide book of sole reference exploiting locally available means. This travel philosophy whose origin is to be traced back to the hippies in the Sixties, has by now however developed into a phenomenon with its own features. The A. describes the case of the isle of Bali, one of the traditional targets of this special category of travellers. - (NF)
