The crucial feature of this study is the district-level analysis of all properties of over 1000 ha farmland. In addition to the farmland, the total areas of the farms, the livestock holdinds and the quality of their soil have also been analysed. These district-level results for Mecklenburg-Schwerin and Strelitz are contrasted with the figures for three districts in Schleswig-Holstein : Plön, Eckernförde and Oldenburg. - (MT)
