Poverty, land care, and sustainable livelihoods in hillside and mountain regions

Special issue : Part I

Auteur :
ELLIS-JONES, J.

Description :
In the run, households and local communities will attain livelihood security through their own ingenuity and with help from institutions and technologies. In the short run, however, we need to develop a better understanding of the causes of poverty as well as of improved land care methods. Author calls for the restoration of local control over hillside and mountain resources and for the use of traditional knowledge in the crafting of development activities. - (SLD)
