Description :
Results from plot scale studies on the effectiveness of live barriers for soil erosion control on steep mountains in Cochabamba, Bolivia are used to evaluate the European Soil Erosion Model (EUROSEM). A three hectare catchment with 28 fields and slopes of 20 to 30 % is also tested. After EUROSEM is parameterized for local conditions, it is used to simulate the likely impact of live barriers of Phalaris grass on catchment-wide soil erosion rates. - (SLD)
