Factors controlling mass movement susceptibility on the Wellenkalk-scarp in Hesse and Thuringia

Mass movements in South, West and Central Germany

Description :
The aim of the analysis was to find out whether variations in the attributes of the internal controlling factors promote or reduce the disposition to landsliding through their indirect effects on slope stability. The specific lithological attributes of the Wellenkalk and the Röt make the Wellenkalk-scarp one of the most active cuesta slopes in Central Europe with respect to gravitational processes. This study is planned to use the results as a data base for a landslide hazard map of the Thuringia Basin.
