The study is a comparative analysis of agriculture in Poland and Bulgaria during the period of transition (198-1999). Subject to the analysis were changes which occurred in agriculture and its environment in both countries as a result of the change of the political system. Tha analysis comprises issues related to social and ownership changes, demographic problems of rural areas, means of agricultural production, production outputs, export of plant, meat and dairy products. Changes which take place in the agriccultural sector, and in rural areas in general, are one of the most important questions related to the future membership of poland and Bulgaria in the European Union. - (BJ)
