This study analyses the industrial restructuringprocess of the five major regional centres of Hungary (Debrecen, Györ, Miskolc, Pécs, Szeged). The paper explores the relationship between the most important structural and organisational changes having taken place after 1989, and their spatial consequences. The other aim of the paper was to demonstrate how these spatial changes have affected the position of industry in the local and regional economies. - (JS)
