The paper presents the results of a case study on the Bistrita region. The dramatic decrease of industry in the city of Bistrita has brought about a reoganisation of the rural areas round the city. Processes are regarded as : agriculturisation of rural areas, social homogenisation of rural population and reduction in the intensity of the urban-rural relationship. - (HPB)
