Description :
A Holocene loess profile to the west of Xi'an China was studied multi-disciplinary to investigate the relationships between soil erosion and monsoonal climatic change. The proxy data obtained from this aeolian loess and palaeosol sequence indicate large-scale variations of climate in the southern Loess Plateau since the last glaciation. It enables a reconstruction to be made of monsoonal climatic change and the pedogenesis of cinnamon soils under aeolian dust deposition of variable rate. It also offers insights into soil erosion and deposition on the loess tablelands in the southern Loess Plateau since the last glaciation.
